The board is 14 – 15 inches square and inlaid with pink and white soapstone. Each piece is hand-carved in either pink or white soapstone. Due to the natural characteristics of soapstone, the colors will vary. The game pieces are approximately 2.25 to 3.5 inches tall.

Story Behind the Art:
Each sculpture is artfully hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone, found only in the hills of southwestern Kenya. Mining the soapstone from surface hills is labor-intensive, using little to no machinery. Laborers work with shovels, picks, axes, and machetes to carve out large soapstone chunks carved into beautiful art.
